Earn Money

Transform unused or retired fields into a reliable, long-term, predictable income source. With contracted payments for up to 40 years, solar projects are a simple way to diversify revenue from your existing real estate. We cover all costs to develop, build, and operate the project.

Innovate Your Land Use

Solar projects can support your land’s ecosystem. Advantages of combining land use for both agriculture and solar energy include:

  • Sheep grazing

  • Pollinator support

  • Extended no-till periods for soil regeneration

Create Renewable Energy

Solar farms are silent, use minimal water, don’t pollute land or air, and are dismantled at the end of the lease—leaving the land with healthy soil for other purposes. A solar farm on your property provides homes and businesses in your community with clean and reliable electricity.

Typical Project Timeline

Due diligence icon

Due Diligence

12 months

Once we’ve entered into an agreement, OurGeneration conducts due diligence, ensuring all environmental, civil, electrical, and land use factors necessary for the project can be obtained.

Our work in this process may include:

  • Engineering layouts and civil designs

  • Evaluating Rooftop Warranty Compliance

  • Surveying land

  • Researching wetlands, habitats, and utility interconnections

  • Presenting to local authorities and attending public hearings

All of this work is performed and paid for by OurGeneration. If we discover your property does not have the right conditions for solar, you keep the money we have paid you to date and all agreements end.

Approvals icon

Approvals

6+ months

We obtain legal approvals that are required from all local, state, and federal authorities to construct the solar project.

Construction

6+ months

This phase involves multiple steps ranging from site preparation, constructing the solar arrays, and connecting the solar farm to the local grid. You will receive construction term rent payments during this period.

Operations Icon

Operations

20+ years

The project is officially turned on! Not only that, full lease payments to you begin! The system now quietly generates clean electricity for the local community. Maintenance teams will visit periodically throughout the year to check the system and manage vegetation with mowers or sheep grazing.

Removal

6 months

Once the solar lease ends, all equipment is removed and the property is returned to its original conditions. A decommissioning bond put in place at the start of the project covers this cost.

Get to Know Us

No digging, no combustion, no environmental waste - capturing and storing this free, virtually unlimited, and renewable fuel source for energy and electricity is our collective challenge. As populations grow and more of our everyday lives rely on electricity, providing our communities with clean, local solar energy becomes an increasingly attractive opportunity on multiple fronts for all stakeholders today while paying it forward for the generations to come.

Our Project Selection Approach

Every site is an opportunity for solar, but not every opportunity creates real value. That’s why we approach our site selection process with precision. We look to work with the right property owner and the right site in the right market. We efficiently use the resources of all the parties involved in the solar development process, ensuring value for property owners, utility companies, financiers, and the hosting communities.

Meet the Team

With 35+ years of combined experience in the solar industry—including roles at leading renewable energy firms in the country—we’re experts at navigating project design, engineering, construction, policy, financial analysis, and asset mergers and acquisitions. We’re dedicated to connecting landowners, financiers, and hosting communities to bring high-quality solar projects to completion.

What we do:

  • Identify land and rooftop sites that have the potential to host a community solar farm

  • Engage and educate property owners on the long-term community and economic value of leasing their land or rooftops to solar projects

  • Oversee due diligence—all environmental, electrical, technical, and zoning feasibility studies associated with each project

  • Lead projects through local, state, and federal authorities to obtain approvals with construction and utilities

  • Partner with construction and project financers to bring projects to fruition

The Story Behind Our Name

Regardless of our age, location, or occupation we can all take responsibility and ownership in the impact our choices have on our families, cities, communities, and the environment. A Baby Boomer making the conscious decision to host a solar farm or a Millennial opting for a community solar subscription allows us all to have a piece of ownership in the collective transition to renewable energy as a source of electricity generation. Each able to proudly say their generation is doing something about our grid’s infrastructure and our communities’ source of power.

Community Solar 101

Community solar projects, also known as solar farms or shared solar, harvest the power of the sun to create clean, local electricity. Property owners that host the projects earn a steady, predictable income from lease payments. The local utility’s grid gains new reliable and resilient energy infrastructure. The community’s homes, apartments, churches, and small businesses receive monthly savings on their electricity bills.
